

Picturing Princeton 1783: The Nation’s Capital
Exhibition Opening at Morven Museum & Garden
Sunday, June 1, noon to 4:00 p.m.
In celebration of the 225th anniversary of the historic gathering of Congress in Princeton, Morven Museum & Garden presents a special exhibition to assist its visitors in Picturing Princeton 1783. More than 100 paintings, documents, and artifacts are on view, including portraits of George and Martha Washington, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and other leading figures of the day. Historical re-enactors, curator’s tours, and refreshments for opening day. Admission: $5 adults; $4 seniors/students, and includes an illustrated exhibition brochure. Free parking. Craftsmen Dick and Regina Toone of the Living History Shop discuss how they turned General Washington’s military equipage originals, including his camp bed, mess kit, and shaving box, into useable reproductions for Rockingham display. Learn how the originals were made with early American tools and materials and see the reproduction items up-close for a hands-on experience. NB: No photography allowed.
