Picturing Princeton 1783: The Nation’s Capital

In celebration of the 225th anniversary of the historic gathering of Congress in Princeton, Morven Museum & Garden presents a special exhibition to assist its visitors in Picturing Princeton 1783.  More than 100 paintings, documents and artifacts are on view, including portraits of George and Martha Washington, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and other leading figures of the day. Open Wednesday to Friday from 11 to 3; Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4. Docent-led tours begin at 15 minutes past the hour. Governor Livingston at Drumthwacket
Wednesdays, by reservation only

This handsome portrait of William Livingston, who served as New Jersey's Governor from 1776 to 1790, is on display at Drumthwacket, the Official Residence of New Jersey’s Governors. The portrait is on loan from Liberty Hall in Union, NJ. Reservations are always required for guided public tours of Drumthwacket at www.drumthwacket.org or 609-683-0057.

1783 Walking Tours of Princeton

Take a trip back to 1783 and see the sites that the members of the Congress saw when they assembled in Princeton. The Historical Society of Princeton’s experienced walking tour guides lead visitors to many historic places including Nassau Hall, Maclean House, and Morven. Tickets: $7 per person. Tours of Princeton University including Nassau Hall are offered seven days a week, year-round by the Orange Key Guide Service.
